I’m drawn to working with sex, trauma and relationship topics for couples and individuals. I love the complexity of a relationship, with its many elements and moving parts. I think many of us can agree that connecting with others is the most challenging, yet rewarding part of life. For those who’ve experienced trauma, you may yearn to be close with others, but find intimate connection to be quite intimidating. I’ve found that better understanding Attachment Theory has greatly impacted my knowledge of myself and how I show up in my relationships.
Depending on your specific concerns, I will use each session to get you closer to your goals. My commonly used modalities include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). ACT uses mindfulness and psychological flexibility to help you become unstuck. EFT gets to the root, emotional issues that may have become lost in repetitive arguments with your partner. EMDR is a body-based approach that helps trauma survivors release shock, stress and tension to heal from past experiences.
My schooling was completed at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois, where I spent three years studying and interning to gain my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I also have a business background and received my Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Go Green!
On a personal note, I would describe myself as a nature-loving people person. I was raised in Michigan and spent 6 years in Chicago, before relocating to Asheville in the fall of 2020. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, yoga, volleyball, travel and good food. I have two cats, Puff and Boots. My current goal is to visit more of our beautiful National Parks.
